mehrere Hände arbeiten an gefaltetem Papier

In most companies, inventions happen by accident. It’s time to change that. Three days are all it takes to turn a troublesome area into a variety of new inventions. Maybe you already have some initial ideas, but it’s not a requirement. Together with your company’s experts and the patent experts at our partner SERVIVA we examine every topic afresh. It is an immensely exciting, inspiring and successful format. By the end of the workshop, you will have:

  • New discoveries to make technological progress
  • Clarity about what your competitors are working on
  • Sketched new inventions and patents in the pipeline
  • Experienced something wonderful and expanded your horizons

Which sectors is this relevant for?

Schwarze Federn und Ventile in einer Reihe

Creative solutions are needed everywhere. The patent/creativity workshop is particularly useful where technical solutions are developed and where patents deliver actual information.

For example, in the aviation industry, in mechanical engineering, in the chemical industry or in manufacturing technology – but also in every other technical sector.

When is targeted development of technical solutions and invention disclosures important?

Technical challenges can bog down your developments. You need new ideas for solutions.
Your company is opening new fields of activity. The IP position is unclear and your want to stake your claim.
Third-party patents are limiting your business opportunities. You need room for manoeuvre.
Unclear customer requirements should be identified and clarified with direct dialogue.

Invention disclosures and patents help in two ways. The invention itself creates new opportunities for technological innovations and technical improvements. The patent secures you a temporary monopoly, which allows you to more easily recover your development expenses and prevents competitors from copying your solutions.

Workshop schedule

  • Sketching invention disclosures
  • Action list and next steps
  • Debrief and follow-up

How do we work in the workshop?

The groundwork, patent situation and participant expectations are all prepared before the workshop. In the workshop:

  1. Tight schedule
  2. Succinct task description
  3. Group work & discussion
  4. Decisions
  5. … back to 1

There is enough time to discuss controversial points. There will be no waffling: This is a WORKshop, not a TALKshop.

Patent/Creativity workshop: Who is the target group?

First-hand expertise and experience are decisive for the development of new solutions. Only someone who knows what he or she is talking about can evaluate which ideas might actually solve the problem in question. In general, 4 to 6 experts are accompanied by a few people with very little knowledge in the area, and who are willing to ask ‘stupid questions’. Interdisciplinarity helps!

The more diverse and interdisciplinary members of a team, the more expansive their ideas will be. Depending on the business culture, multipliers from the company can be consulted – innovation managers or patent lawyers, for example. External experts are also welcome. It can be an enormous advantage to occasionally involve important clients, but this tactic is to be treated with caution.
